Chat Areas and Direct Messaging

Here is an overview of how the chat areas and direct messaging work within the itracks Realtime Video and Text software.

Text Alignment

Your text will always align to the right side of the screen while everyone else's text will align to the left hand side of the screen.  Moderators and tech support appear with a different coloured border and a label, and participant messages will appear without labels, so that you can differentiate everyone.

Private Messages

Users of any type can be private messaged by the moderator.   Whenever a list of users displays the right-most icon associated with the user can be clicked to start a direct message with the user.  In addition to this, any time a user's reply appears in a chat area, hovering over the edge of their response will bring up a dialogue where you can direct message the individual who posted the message or delete that post.

This can be done in the Waiting Room, Back Room and Main Room

Participants and observers get a button in order to private message the moderators in the group. The button is titled Message Moderators and will be available to them above where they can type in to talk to the group in the case of participants or the back room in the case of observers. Participants and Observers cannot private message other participants or observers.

Notifications like the one below appear when there is a direct message.

Direct messages appear in the direct message areas of the Attendee or Backroom areas. Keep this in mind as you may need to click the Backroom Chat button or other areas to return back after looking at direct messages.  For example,  below is a screen shot of a moderator who has direct messaged an observer. In order to get to the main backroom chat, click on the backroom tab.

If you have multiple direct message conversations started, you will see the name of each user in the respective channel, listed on the left-hand side. To toggle between chats, click on the name of the person you'd like to chat with and it will open that conversation.
