Dial Tester in action - moderating and reading real time results

What is Dial Testing? 

Dial Testing is a powerful market research solution that captures continuous, second-by-second respondents feedback using a slider scale as they engage with your content. 

How can Dial Testing help?

Dial testing is how you overcome the negative impact of flawed memory and recall bias by capturing what people think in-the-moment. As participants watch your video, presentation, etc. they use an online slider to give continuous, second-by-second feedback. This gives you real-time, gut reactions that you can then use to probe deeper and refine your content. 

There are two ways to use the Dial Tester functionality in itracks to allow participants to provide feedback:

• When the question starts
• When the file broadcast starts
  
         

Option 1: When the question starts

To begin the dial tester portion of your focus group, share your screen to display the stimuli you wish to have your participants react to with the dial tester. 

Once you are ready to post the dial tester, click Start Dial Tester in your moderator guide.

Option 2: When the file broadcast starts. Upload video file below

This option is used when you would like the question to begin simultaneously when the media file broadcasts. When this option is selected you are required to upload a file in the File Upload area and that file will upload the same as any other media in the Media section. 

Below is the participant's view of the dial tester media. Video feeds of the moderator and other participants will resize and take up the left-hand portion of the video call area. Your screen share will take up 2/3 of the video call area. The dial tester buttons are found horizontally beneath those areas.

While the dial tester is running, observers can watch the real-time results overlaid over the screen share. Individual responses are tracked with color-coded dots, while the line graph indicates the average response.

After you stop broadcasting the Dial Tester, you can View Results and filter the feedback from the participants and analyze the data as required.
