Setting Up a Dial Tester Question for Your Video Focus Group

Please note that the dial tester is not automatically available for all subscriptions and accounts. If you are interested in the dial tester and would like it turned on for your account, please email your Sales Representative.

To program a dial tester question for your Realtime Video focus group, first go to the Activities page and click on the activity you want to set up your guide questions in.

In the Guide area, click Add Topic to create a topic.

Once your topic is created, click Add Question.

In the Question Type dropdown that will appear, select Dial Tester.

The Question Text field works as a question name to help identify each dial tester question within your moderator guide, and will not be seen by participants or observers.

The Report Group field is used in reporting to group collected responses within the same project when you have the same videos being dial tested across multiple questions and activities but you would like all of their report data to be able to be combined into a single graph or to be cut out and sliced in different ways as a unit rather than separate entities. Note: It cannot be changed after the question is posted in the activity.

Allow participants to provide feedback with the Dial Tester... has two options as below. It determines when the participants are allowed to provide feedback. 

• When the questions starts - this option is used when the Moderator is going to share their screen and display the media and start the dial tester question for participants to provide feedback. 

• When the file broadcast starts. Upload video file below - this option is used when you would like the question to begin simultaneously when the media file broadcasts. When this option is selected you are required to upload a file in the File Upload area and that file will upload the same as any other media in the Media section. 

Once you have populated all the field(s), click Save.

Your dial tester question will now save and appear as below in your discussion guide.

Once your moderator and participants have joined the conference, the Start Dial Tester button will become available and you can post the question to the participant by selecting the option Start Dial Tester.

During the discussion when the Moderator Starts the Dial tester question uploaded using the option "When the file broadcast starts. Upload video file below" it appears as below and once the feedback is collected the moderator can stop the Dial Tester using the option "Stop Broadcast".

If you select maximize button on the Dial tester graph it will maximize the graph and the video will keep playing in the background.
