Flagging/Making Notes in the Discussion Area
Setting up Categories
As a first step, people usually create the categories they want to use. Please note that you can do this at any time and can add as many categories as you need. By default, we give a few to start with.
To set up categories click on the Project Setup Tab and choose Add/Edit Annotation Categories from your menu options.
Once you do this you can add new categories by clicking the Add Category button. You can also edit or delete any of the existing categories.
Once you do this you will be able to label the category any way you need and choose a colour to associate with that category.
Using the Categories in the Discussion Area
Within the discussion area responses can be flagged and notes left on any response in the discussion area.
To flag and optionally leave a response, click the Options button below any response in the board and choose the Edit Notes option from the menu that appears.
This will bring up an interface where you can select from any of the categories previously created and leave comments in your transcripts. By default, these category flags and notes are only seen by moderators. If you would like your observers to see any of these, you can select the ‘Show to observers’ checkbox and they will see the flags in the board as well.
Once you have made your selections and saved. Coloured dots will appear on the responses you flagged. These dots can be hovered over with your mouse to see any comments made as well.
In your transcripts
In the transcripts area under the reporting tab, transcripts can be filtered using these tags.
At the bottom of the filters is a Note Display Options area. To make sure your notes/categories display in the transcripts, select the ‘ Include Notes’ checkbox here.
If you want to filter and just bring down certain responses flagged a specific way, under the Select Posts section you can choose to ‘Only show posts with selected notes’ and then select specific categories from here.
Exporting the transcripts after making these selections will only bring down responses that are flagged as those categories.
